"Rend your heart and NOT your garments. Return to the Lord your God."
~Joel 2:13~
Rend = To take violently by effort or to tear violently asunder/split.
I came across this passage by God's providence back to a word the Lord spoke to me in 2005 for His people. Six years later he has zeroed me in on this word again and has given it to me in quite a different fashion than before and now I feel compelled to release what He has given me.
The Lord says that it's time for us to RIP our damaged hearts, tainted hearts, religious hearts, idolatrous hearts, and hardened hearts out and return to Him. Many have lost their way and our hearts have been stained with the ways of this world. We have settled for mediocre lives, mediocre families, mediocre churches, and mediocre nations because we have failed to center our focus on Jesus, His vastness, and limitless nature. Instead we have put our dear Saviour in a box that could never contain his wealth, restoration, faith, humbleness, love, joy and peace.
But, the Lord says that it's time to REND - take violently by effort your heart and return to the Lord. Return to the long walks in the park you used to take with Him, the candelight dinners, romance your Daddy and let Him know that you refuse to be contaminated with what this world has to offer. If we are going to see God like never before we are going to have to remove those things from our hearts that are not of God.
The Lord has promised that If we REND our hearts God will restrain from sending calamity upon us. You can divert the hand of the Lord by falling in love with Him all over again. He's the greatest lover you will ever know, the best friend you've never had, and the mother who wipes all of your tears away. Declare today that you will forsake all other lovers ~ your job, your intellect, your abilities and run to the one who should have your heart forever, and you will forever have His heart.
Say this prayer with me ~
Lord, I come to you today and I ask you to forgive me for keeping my old nasty heart, and being satisfied with its callousness. I REND my heart and repent of all things in my heart that I have lifted up before you. I run to you, and I know that you will receive me if I come to you. So here I come, I have missed you so much and I ask that you open my heart to receive your love. In Jesus Name, I pray Amen.
